We're Here to Make Leisure Accessible
Yimbolex started because someone noticed a gap. People with disabilities wanted to explore, relax, and enjoy recreational activities — but options were limited. We built this organization to change that, one thoughtful experience at a time.

How We Got Started
Back in early 2023, a group of recreation coordinators and disability advocates met at a regional accessibility conference in Seremban. The conversations kept circling back to the same frustration — leisure programs either didn't accommodate people with disabilities, or they were designed without actual input from the community.
So we formed Yimbolex. Not as another charity, but as a proper professional service. We partnered with venues, trained staff, and worked directly with individuals and families to understand what truly accessible recreation looks like. It wasn't about pity or special treatment. It was about removing barriers and creating genuine opportunities for fun, connection, and relaxation.
Today, we coordinate everything from weekend outings to multi-day programs across Negeri Sembilan and surrounding states. We've learned a lot since those first planning sessions. Mostly, we've learned to listen more than we assume.
What Guides Our Work
These aren't just nice words on a website. They're the principles we actually use when planning activities, training facilitators, and making decisions about what programs to offer.
Dignity in Design
Every activity we organize treats participants as capable individuals, not passive recipients of care. We design experiences that let people make choices and have agency over their own leisure time.
Real Community Input
We don't assume what people want. We ask. Our program advisory group includes people with various disabilities who review plans, suggest improvements, and call us out when we miss the mark.
Safety Without Bubble-Wrapping
Yes, we take safety seriously. But we also recognize that overprotection robs people of genuine experiences. We find the balance between reasonable precaution and meaningful engagement.
Transparent Operations
Families and participants know exactly what to expect — costs, accessibility features, staff qualifications, and contingency plans. No surprises, no fine print, no vague promises about what might happen.
How We Actually Work
Initial Consultation
We talk with you about interests, access needs, and any concerns. This conversation shapes which programs might be a good fit and what accommodations we'll arrange.
Program Preparation
We coordinate with venues, brief our facilitators, and confirm equipment availability. You'll receive clear information about meeting points, what to bring, and who to contact if plans change.
During the Activity
Our trained staff are present but not hovering. We support when needed, step back when not. Participants engage at their own pace with access to assistance if situations arise.
Follow-Up
After each program, we check in. What worked? What didn't? This feedback directly influences how we run future activities and which new programs we might develop.
